In a Gamasutra-attended conference call, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said that while it was too early for exact numbers, Rockstar's L.A. Noire was a win all around. Zelnick did say that the initial shipment was "promising," though said that the company was not willing to give out numbers just yet. "We try to be folks that shy away from early projections and we'd rather announce things after they happen," said Zelnick. "We're really pleased, and the early feedback from the channel is also exceedingly strong." When asked how the initial shipments compared to Red Dead Redemption (RDR shipped 1.9 million in its first week, while rumors point to a number closer to 1.6 for L.A. Noire), Zelnick was hesitant to make a comparison. "We certainly don't want to be subject to comping all of our new releases of new franchises against the extraordinary success of Red Dead Redemption," he said. "Every title stands alone. "That said, we have every reason to believe that L.A. Noire is another strong franchise for this company. No matter how you slice it, it's a very successful release." When asked about potential DLC, Zelnick sternly said that nothing had been announced yet, and that he would leave it to Rockstar to make any announcements. "But suffice it to say, we do see this as a powerful new franchise," he added.
