Newsbrief: TastemakerX raised $1.8 million to fund its platform for looks to gamify music discovery "in the same way fantasy sports leagues gamify professional sports" with a mobile application. The San Francisco-based company's TastemakerX Music social mobile app, which will release with a private beta in early March, helps users discover music artists, trends, and inspiration. They can build up a "Personal Influence Score" by sharing their favorite music with others. Participants in this series A round of financing include Guggenheim Partners, Baseline Ventures, True Ventures, AOL Ventures, and Tekton Ventures. Various media industry advisors and veterans, as well as previous angel investors also participated.
