Just over a year ago, MMO developer Turbine Entertainment made the surprise decision to resurrect Asheron's Call 2, an MMORPG that was taken offline back in 2005. What made the move rather interesting was that the previous game, Asheron's Call, was still online and receiving updates -- in fact, it has been receiving new content since it first launched in 1999. But there are changes afoot. As spotted by RPG Site, Turbine has now stated that the content update released today for the game will be the last. While the game will continue to be supported and receive bug fixes, there is no plan to add more content to the game. "Let me reiterate that we have no plans to close Asheron’s Call," said producer Rob Ciccolini. "We plan to keep the game open and the servers running." The team plans to make both Asheron's Call and Asheron's Call 2 free to all the currently active players as a thank you for sticking with the games.
