[In this weekly column, Gamasutra rounds up the most popular paid and free gaming applications on the Android Market as of today, with Sentinel 3: Homeworld, Minecraft: Pocket Edition, Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds currently ranking among the platform's top downloads.] This week's top paid titles are: 1. Cut the Rope ($0.99) 2. Sentinel 3: Homeworld ($2.99) 3. Minecraft: Pocket Edition ($6.99) 4. Fruit Ninja ($1.26) 5. Madden NFL 12 ($4.99) 6. Doodle Jump ($0.99) 7. UNO ($0.99) 8. RoboDefense ($2.99) 9. The Moron Test ($0.99) 10. X Construction ($1.49) ZeptoLab's Cut the Rope faces new competition following the recent launch of Origin8's tower defense title Sentinel 3: Homeworld, which overtakes Mojang's Minecraft: Pocket Edition for second place in today's sales charts. Halfbrick's Fruit Ninja remains a strong seller at fourth place, while Gameloft's UNO trails Madden NFL 12 and Doodle Jump at seventh. Here are this week's top free Android game applications: 1. Angry Birds 2. Angry Birds Seasons 3. Words With Friends Free 4. Angry Birds Rio 5. Drag Racing 6. Contract Killer: Zombies 7. Fruit Ninja Free 8. Hanging With Friends 9. 3D Bowling 10. Bunny Shooter Angry Birds and the recently updated Angry Birds Seasons claim the top two spots in the Android Market's free charts, while Newtoy's Words With Friends Free and Angry Birds Rio follow at third and fourth place. Creative Mobile's Drag Racing moves up to fifth place after finishing seventh last week, as Glu Mobile's Contract Killer: Zombies returns to the charts this week at sixth.
