Apple's latest U.S. App Store game charts by revenue see Air Penguin and Tap Zoo earning top iPhone sales, while Smurfs' Village and You Don't Know Jack HD emerge as big sellers on the iPad.
Every week, sister iPhone and iPad site FingerGaming rounds up the top-grossing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra. This week's U.S. revenue charts see Air Penguin and Tap Zoo earning top iPhone sales, while Smurfs' Village and You Don't Know Jack HD emerge as big sellers on the iPad. These charts allow end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing iPhone titles are: 1. Newtoy's Words With Friends moves up to third place, pushing Rovio's Angry Birds to fourth. Zynga Poker and Kamagames' rival gambling sim Texas Poker continue to do brisk business from week to week, as Tiny Wings loses momentum and drops to tenth place. Angry Birds Seasons HD ($1.99) Atari's Greatest Hits sees a sharp drop in popularity following an influx of negative customer reviews, falling to ninth in today's chart after premiering at second place last week. Capcom's recently updated Smurfs' Village trumps Angry Birds Rio HD for the top chart spot, meanwhile, as Jellyvision's trivia game You Don't Know Jack HD finishes its debut week at fourth place.
