[In this weekly column, Gamasutra rounds up the most popular paid and free iPad gaming applications on the App Store as of today, with Grand Theft Auto III, Sonic CD and The Merry Manor HD currently ranking among the platform's top downloads.] This week's top paid titles are: 1. Grand Theft Auto III ($4.99) 2. Sonic CD ($1.99) 3. Angry Birds Seasons HD ($1.99) 4. Angry Birds HD ($4.99) 5. Plants vs. Zombies HD ($2.99) 6. Kinectimals ($2.99) 7. Words With Friends HD ($2.99) 8. Fruit Ninja HD ($2.99) 9. Where's My Water? ($0.99) 10. Angry Birds Rio HD ($2.99) A recently released iOS port of Rockstar's landmark open-world action game Grand Theft Auto III leads this week's iPad sales charts. Sega's 1993 platformer Sonic CD claims second place in its debut week, as Rovio's longtime App Store favorites Angry Birds Seasons HD and Angry Birds HD trail at third and fourth place. Last week's top titles Batman Arkham City Lockdown and Infinity Blade II drop out of chart range, meanwhile, as a newly launched iOS version of Microsoft's Kinectimals finishes at sixth place. Here are this week's top free iPad applications: 1. The Merry Manor HD 2. Monopoly Here & Now: The World Edition for iPad 3. The Sims: FreePlay 4. My Country 5. Fleck Touch 6. Bejeweled Blitz 7. Card Ace: Casino HD 8. Pinball HD Collection 9. Mystery Manor: Hidden Adventure 10. Paper Toss 2.0 AlphaWeb's holiday-themed farming sim The Merry Manor HD takes top honors in this week's free iPad app charts, while a pair of giveaway titles from Electronic Arts occupy second and third place. Game Insight's nation management title My Country remains a popular pick at fourth, as PopCap's Bejeweled Blitz captures sixth place after recently splitting off from the core Bejeweled app.
