Turtle Beach claims to be 2011's top accessory maker

Turtle Beach claims it was the number one third-party accessory company in 2011 based on dollar volume, and said its products controlled 50 percent of the headphones and headsets category for games last year.

Newsbrief: Turtle Beach claims it was the number one third-party video game accessory company in 2011 based on dollar volume, and said its products controlled 50 percent of the headphones and headsets category for games last year. The company credited the popularity of its accessories to growing demand for high quality audio experiences with their games, and its introduction of Ear Force headsets with new features (e.g. presets for customizable audio settings). Referring to data from The NPD Group, Turtle Beach said its products accounted for 12 of the top 25 gaming headset SKUs in 2011. The company noted that in December alone, its headphones took a 58 percent share of the market, again based on dollar volume. While Turtle Beach did not report specific profit or sales numbers, the accessory designer and manufacturer said it saw "record growth" last year.
