Joining several other major publishers that have pledged support for Nintendo's new Wii U console, Ubisoft announced intentions to bring two new IPs and three of its existing brands to the system. From its pool of popular franchises, Ubisoft has selected Assassin's Creed, Rabbids, and Ghost Recon Online to appear on the 2012-bound HD console -- likely taking advantage of Wii U's unconventional controller setup with a built-in touchscreen. The Paris-based publisher described its two original Wii U games as a "multi-sports game for the whole family" and an exclusive, "revolutionary" first-person shooter catering to hardcore audiences. Ubisoft previously shipped another series of first-person shooters exclusive to a Nintendo home console -- Red Steel, the first of which sold over a million copies.  "Nintendo is an industry reference for game design and accessibility. We are very honored to be a strong part of this new chapter of the video game industry," says Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. "This new console is an amazing new source of inspiration for our developers." Guillemot continues, "With the combination of technologies brought together by this console, our creative teams will be able to take the Ubisoft vision of developing rich, immersive and innovative gaming experiences for all audiences even further."
