Newsbrief: Earlier this month, Apple revealed Metal, a new graphics technology that it says better powers game graphics on its iOS devices. Today, popular game engine Unity has announced support for Metal is coming soon. The company has laid out why it thinks Metal is such a big deal in a blog post, noting that it will solve a number of issues including 'The Draw Call Problem' - plus, the GPU can be used for doing computation outside of typical vertex and fragment shaders area, known as "compute shaders." Unity hasn't released a date for when support is due. Note that the platform requirements will include iOS 8 and an A7-based device, such as the iPhone 5S, iPad Air, or Retina iPad Mini.
