The University of Abertay Dundee in Scotland invites budding media artists and digital art students to Next Level Dundee, a one-week creative event and mentoring session to be held in September. The media jam event is open to all individuals who are not already part of the creative industries, including students, non-professional artists, and other talented creators. After being selected from a pool of applicants, participants in the program will receive a week's worth of industry mentoring from attending experts from Abertay University, Dundee Contemporary Arts, Tay Screen, and Realtime Worlds, among other organizations. The game jam will take place at Abertay University's open-plan Centre for Excellence in Computer Games Education, where teams of participants will compete to produce digital media works. "Last year’s Next Level Dundee was a huge success, giving hugely talented people looking for their break into the creative industries a chance to work alongside professionals, and have their work showcased to the public at the NEoN Digital Arts Festival," said Abertay Professional Masters in Computer Games Development student and Next Level organizer Iain Smith. Smith continues: "The idea of working in mixed teams is exactly what creative companies look for, and they're the skills I’m currently developing on the Professional Masters in Computer Games Development at Abertay. Judging by last year's work, I expect great things from all the teams." The deadline for application is August 23rd. Interested parties may apply at Next Level's website.
