THQ has revealed more details regarding its upcoming Voltron: Defender of the Universe reboot game, noting a release via console digital distribution later this year. First announced in February, the game is set to be released in October, alongside a new Voltron television series, and will be available via Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. Players can team up online together in up to five player co-op, or play two-player local, to battle against the evil King Zarkon on the Planet Arus. The game will come with clips from the original animated television series interwoven into the gameplay, re-mastered in high definition. The story will feature scenes from the original TV series, and plenty of familiar enemies from the show. At release in October, it will cost 800 Microsoft Points ($10) on Xbox Live, and $9.99 on PSN. Peter Armstrong, executive producer for the game, said, "We really wanted to create a game that's exciting, true to the original series and challenging to play." "All of us here are big fans of classic Voltron, and we're really proud of what we have created."
