Brazilian social game developer Vostu has purchased Buenos Aires-based contract developer MP Game Studio, a team specializing in licensed, web-based games for a variety of high-profile media properties. MP's dozens of games incorporate properties from TV networks including Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and TNT, as well as major brands such as Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Unilever and National Geographic. The MP employees will be integrated into the Vostu team and relocated into the company's new Buenos Aires headquarters, according to the announcement. Vostu's acquisition comes as the company faces a legal threat from Zynga over claims that many Vostu titles are blatant copies of Zynga's most popular games. Last year, Vostu attracted $30 million in venture funding from Accel Partners and Tiger Global Management. The company has since grown to claim 42 million users for its titles across Facebook, Orkut, MSN and its own Vostu platform.
