With VR going as far as it has in just the last year it's exciting to guess where it might be by the end of 2017.

After reading Community Download: What Will Happen To VR In 2017 and Beyond? by UploadVR I realized that VR is something that used to be talked about like science fiction and now we are actively developing for it. VR is also becoming more accessible to the consumers and the top three platforms, the Vive, Oculus, and PlayStation VR have already sold over a million units. I also learned that in places such as China there are even VR arcades. I also read VR Rising: 5 Trends to Watch As The Industry Grows In 2017 by UploadVR. After reading this I learned that something that is important when developing for VR since there is no fixed VR production cycle to play with lights, sounds, and color because when in a first person environment is can be hard to pick up on certain things when you're already focused on everything else as well. These readings apply to me because as an artist I need to make sure the art I'm making is optimized for VR and also that they are able to guide the player through the game so they don't get lost. I think that the most important take away from my readings this week have been that VR is becoming popular much quicker than originally anticipated and as developers, it's important to always be thinking of how your next VR game will have something new that someone else's doesn't have yet.
