Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
James Fuller(Lead Developer at Pink Scaled Dragon) goes over why they think changing you company name can benefit your company.
Hey, everyone. I am James Fuller, Lead Developer at Pink Scaled Dragon. Yes, that is correct.
My company has decided to change names from "Anti Eye Craft Gaming" to "Pink Scaled Dragon".
The reason for the change is because of our old company name being almost identical to our first game "Anti Eye Craft". This change gave me inspiration to write a blog detailing how a new name could benefit your company.
Changing your company name could be costly and people may continue to look for games under your previous name. This is BAD. The best thing to do is to let your customers know that you will now be known under a different name and be sure to thank them for their support.
Changing your company name has a few issues but the good might actually outweigh the bad.
Let me explain.
If your company changes it's name then you are basically starting fresh and with experiance under your belt so-to-speak. You know what sells or at least you can make a good product.
If your old company wasn't doing so well then it could've been the name that put people off trying out your games. My old company name was Anti Eye Craft Gaming and that is fairly long and a tad uninteresting but old company's new name is Pink Scaled Dragon and that is much more interesting!
Just because you changed your company name doesn't mean that you are guarantied any sales or that your sales will be better. Ask your fans, customers, employees, siblings, relatives, spouse, etc. about what'll be a pretty good name to go by.
Be true to you and your business and keep on keeping on!
