Newsbrief: Microsoft will soon discontinue its Windows Marketplace for Mobile service, meaning that users of Windows Mobile devices will no longer be able to download apps and games. The company is advising users to download all purchased apps and games before May 9, after which the store will be taken down. Applications downloaded before this time will continue to work on the device. The Windows Mobile operating system, originally launched in 2000, was superseded by Windows Phone in 2010, at which point the final stable release was made available.
