Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Differences between working in home and in the studio
I'm the type of people you do not like the routine.
I've been working as a programmer for more than 12 years, well, as a freelance over 5 years, 3 of them especially with video games, but I've also worked on my own business, until the crisis when I turned out to a self-employed
Working with a team makes keeping the workflow always active and with tempers high, it brings discipline and social skills increases too, it is also very funny, especially if you work with people with similar tastes to yours.
These days I am going to a videogames studio of some friends to work there and to surround myself with people who make video games, I give you the main idea: we all do what we love and help each other, in addition to laugh a lot!.
I recommend to all home indy developers, to find a team and meet at a site dedicated to that purpose, so you can increase the productivity, and emotional health, fun and so on...
There are other advantages, like learn things that you do not know, sharing knowledge, share technological gadgets, test games together, etc..
Finally, let's do a list with Pros for each
Working home alone Pros:
Focussing on a task
Having your own pace and schedule (no sleep and play games?)
Combine household chores with work (be with your gf?)
Working in the studio Pros:
Work discipline and schedules, team synergy
Get feedback on your game quickly
Share knowledge, gadgets, digital contents, or something you like/love
Enought for today, the contras for each one are just the opposite.
Enjoy your time, for now, I'm going for developing sharing my time between these two different but complementary things
