While Unity support was added for the PS Vita earlier this year, the company announced today that free support for the engine has now also been added for PlayStation Mobile, with the full release due soon. Any Unity developer can now simply register for free with Sony Computer Entertainment, then deploy their PS Mobile games for the PS Vita. The company was keen to stress that this is a preview build right now, and as such, you can't publish to the PlayStation Store just yet. The official launch is due to happen sometime this summer. And Sony took this opportunity to note that more countries will soon be granted PS Mobile support. Austria, India, Poland and Switzerland will get PS Mobile on June 25, while developers in Australia, Brazil, Columbia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland, and Thailand will all be able to create games for PS Mobile from May 29. Sony mentions that "Unity for PS Mobile" allows easy porting of iPhone, iPad, and Android games for Vita -- clearly the company is hoping that mobile devs will jump onboard with the free tools. More information on how to sign up can be found on the PlayStation website.
