The Frostbite engine is a multi-talented piece of tech, and it drives everything from Dragon Age: Inquisition to Need for Speed and Battlefield 4. Electronic Arts' technical art director Matthew Doell is intimately familiar with Frostbite, and at GDC 2015 he'll explain part of how it works in a Programming talk titled "Frostbite: Implementing a Scripting Solution for Your Editor." Doell thinks Frostbite's scripting solution is a good example of how developers can build a codebase to quickly create custom tools for each project and easily share new tools between teams, so expect to see lots of examples of how EA developers took the tools and made them their own. Check out his talk, and you'll walk away with a much better understanding of how to design and implement scripting as a feature by studying how Frostbite's scripting solution was implemented and maintained over multiple versions of the engine. You can find more details on Doell's session among the list of all announced talks available now in the online GDC 2015 Session Scheduler, where you can begin to plan out your conference week and later export it to the up-to-the-minute GDC Mobile App, coming soon. Conference officials look forward to announcing more GDC 2015 sessions spanning a diverse array of game industry issues in the months ahead. For now, don't miss the opportunity to save money by registering early -- the deadline to register for passes at a discounted rate is January 21, 2015. GDC 2015 itself will take place March 2-6 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. For more information on GDC 2015, visit the show's official website, or subscribe to regular updates via Facebook, Twitter, or RSS. Gamasutra and GDC are sibling organizations under parent UBM Tech.
