Microsoft has finally brought Halo 5's level creation mode "Forge" to PC -- although the full game remains an Xbox One exclusive.

The console maker laid out plans to bring the toolkit to PC earlier this year, and has said it wants to give players the ability to craft levels with the "precision, speed and control available on PC using keyboard and mouse."

All content created with Forge on PC can be shared with the Xbox One community, while levels created on Xbox can be edited on PC.

Microsoft has released a limited multiplayer offering alongside Forge, allowing PC users to play custom Arena offerings on Windows 10.

Players will also be able to set up custom matches with Xbox Live users to play and test their Forge builds before sharing them with console owners.

Halo 5: Forge is available right now for free, and can be downloaded via the Windows Store
