A new LittleBigPlanet game focused on four-player cooperative play was announced today with remarkably little fanfare during Sony’s E3 press conference in Los Angeles. The game is being developed by British developer Sumo Digital, rather than franchise creator Media Molecule. Sumo Digital is also currently working on the Xbox 360 version of Forza Horizon 2. LittleBigPlanet 3 appears to be a side-scrolling puzzle platformer in the vein of its predecessors; the chief addition seems to be three new playable characters with unique traversal mechanics that allows them to get places that are out of reach of series protagonist Sackboy. To wit, a new doglike creature called Oddsock can jump off walls, a bird named Swoop can fly, and a giant named Toggle can shrink himself down to get through cramped spaces. The new game seems designed to facilitate four-player cooperative play, and is expected to launch this November on PlayStation 4.
