Games for Change, in conjunction with SEXETC.org, has announced the winner of its game design competition: Safe Sex with Friends. The challenge's theme was promoting sexual awareness for youth. Safe Sex with Friends, designed by Kaho Abe, Ramsey Nasser and Sarah Schoemann, is a tile-based mobile and web game, designed to teach teens and young adults about the correct use of barrier protection during sex. "We really wanted a fun and compelling game because we wanted an experience that teenagers would engage with willingly. This is not your traditional educational game," says juror Matt Parker, who, along with fellow jurors Lana Dakan, Lucinda Holt and Naomi Clark, selected the game from three finalist entries. The winning developers will receive $35,000 and collaborate with non-profit group Answer to build the game from concept to prototype.
