[Every week, IndieGames.com: The Weblog co-editor-in-chief Tim W. will be summing up some of the top free-to-download and commercial indie games from the last seven days on his sister 'state of indie' weblog.] This week on "Best Of Indie Games," we take a look at some of the top independent PC Flash/downloadable titles released over this last week. The goodies in this edition include a clever puzzle game with coins, a new title from UK-based developer increpare, the much-anticipated release of Super Crate Box for iOS devices, plus a new browser game from Use Boxmen creator Greg Sergeant. Here's some recent highlights from IndieGames.com: Game Pick: 'Coins' (Monosynth Games, commercial indie) "Zander Milroy and Tim Dresser of Monosynth Games have crafted a clever puzzler in Coins, made recently playable via Kongregate after being on the Blackberry, Android, and iTunes market for several months." Game Pick: 'Microtone' (increpare, browser) "increpare squeezes out one last game before the new year, and Microtone's perspective-shifting puzzles prove quite the challenge. Players must collect six X's in each level by moving their square and shifting the perspective of the stage to reach new areas." Game Pick: 'CheeseMan' (Alphanoize, commercial indie) "Alphanoize Games has released its debut App Store title CheeseMan, a level-based 2D action game in the vein of Team Meat's Super Meat Boy and other notoriously difficult platformers. While touch-based control schemes are the bane of all iOS platformers, Alphanoize assures that the game's controls have been developed with precision in mind." Game Pick: 'Making Monkeys' (Greg Sergeant, browser) "Greg Sergeant's Making Monkeys is a very brief but enjoyable 2D puzzle platforming experience, where players control a monkey that lost his tail in an accident, leaving him to resemble a piece of toast." Game Pick: 'Super Crate Box' (Vlambeer and Halfbot, commercial indie) "The iOS version of this freeware PC title arrives as Vlambeer's second paid release to date, following up on last year's launch of Serious Sam: The Random Encounter. Super Crate Box boasts tight controls, a chiptune soundtrack, and support for the iCade and iControlPad peripherals." Game Pick: 'EvilQuest' (Chaosoft Games, commercial indie) "EvilQuest offers a unique spin on the action-RPG genre, in that players control a villain bent on world domination, rather than the traditional role of a hero trying to save the world. The game begins with the main character escaping from a prison, with his eventual goal being to take down the world's elder gods and wield ultimate power."
