For this week's Dissecting Design, I'm taking a look at Alan Wake. The game tried to combine action and horror design, and while it worked in some areas, it wasn't enough to base an entire horror game around. I also showed off the DLC and how they were the best parts of the game.

Action horror design is hard to get right, and it all comes down to the balance between the two.
