What drives the clockwork mind of Dishonored 2 villain Kirin Jindosh? What drives the mind of Harvey Smith, the creative director of the team that brought Jindosh to life? Well in a two-for-one deal, we got to answer both of these questions on our Twitch stream this morning, as we interviewed Smith while playing Dishonored 2’s most discussed level The Clockwork Mansion.

It’s a fascinating level that led to a fascinating discussion with Smith, in part because as Smith says, it isn’t physically built like most other game levels. Virtual gears and levers were needed to create its mechanical rooms, and much of its architecture is inspired by the French locale where Smith and his co-developers reside.

It was just one of several fascinating stories Smith shared with us, including how he got his first job in game development and why he’s so interested in the many power fantasies that the Dishonored series has to offer. If you’re interested in those stories, be sure to watch the full stream above, and subscribe to our Twitch channel for regular live developer interviews and gameplay commentary.
