Runic Games, the creators behind Torchlight I and II, is seeking a Contract Level Designer to join us in our next adventure: Hob, our upcoming action adventure game for PC and Console.
We are seeking a dedicated team member who works well in a collaborative environment, and is passionate about making great games and delivering the best experience to players. The ideal candidate focuses on accomplishing goals that drive us forward as a team, quickly adapts to changes, and motivates others to outperform and succeed. This position is fulltime based out of our downtown Seattle offices for 8+ months with the option to extend or transition into a salaried position.
Responsibilities:
Design and build full levels in 3D from concept to shippable completion using our proprietary toolset.
Prototype and implement fun gameplay & puzzle scenarios, AI Layouts, Entity scripting and functionality.
Collaborate one-on-one and with multidisciplinary teams to incorporate all elements of game design into the levels.
Participate in and contribute to design meetings.
Qualifications:
4+ years industry experience contributing to a shipped game.
Fundamental knowledge of game design and the ability to use 3D level editors to devise environment buildings, entities, rough cameras, create gameplay scenarios, and use design system tools as needed.
Strong understanding of what makes good 3D space for various types of gameplay.
Strong communication skills.
Can collaborate with the give and take of constructive critiques.
Team player without ego.
Have a positive attitude and a constant drive to succeed.
Serious passion for games and level design.
Bonus Skills or Experiences:
Experience with environmental puzzle design is a plus.
