The Gamasutra Job Board is the most diverse, active and established board of its kind for the video game industry!

Here is just one of the many, many positions being advertised right now.

Sandbox Gameplay Designer, Hinterland Studio

Location: Cumberland, British Columbia, Canada

We’re searching for a seasoned gameplay designer with experience developing systems-heavy Sandbox games. Examples of suitable genres would include open-world titles, immersive simulations, and large-scale RPGs.

Our ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in a systems design role on critically successful, shipped titles for PC and/or consoles. You need to be able to communicate clearly, document well, and have a demonstrable sense of how to tune experiences for both balance and player engagement. Bring a methodical process to the mix, a keen analytic mind, and the ability to hold an ecosystem of complex, inter-related gameplay mechanics clearly in your head.

If this sounds like you, please submit your resume and a short cover letter describing why Hinterland needs you to help us create world-class experiences. Send applications to: [email protected]

At Hinterland, we strive to create compelling experiences for our players, ones that require thoughtful consideration from our players and are based on carefully conceived choice/consequence matrices, and ones which sometimes eschew traditional definitions of “fun”. Bring your fresh ideas to the table!

Our studio is based on Vancouver Island, Canada. As such, preference will be given to candidates who are permitted to work in Canada. Eventual relocation to Vancouver Island is preferred but not a requirement, although we expect all distributed team members to be willing to spend some time on-site each month. This position is salaried with full benefits, and relocation support is available.
