Graphine has released the latest version of its texture streaming middleware, Granite SDK 3.0.

According to the Belgian startup, the new SDK is a "major update" that features a significant redesign of Granite's layer and caching systems that will remove any negative impact on system resources.

Graphine has also explained that 3.0 is a much better fit for video game texture content - 1K to 8K textures - enabling the use of different resolution textures and configurations while minimizing the impact on memory, disk size, or bandwidth.

The new release also allows for performance enhancements resulting in 50 percent less CPU and GPU work per frame: an improvement that will help virtual reality developers ensure their app runs at a solid 90 FPS.

Find out what other improvements have been made by heading to the official Graphine blog.
