Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
The log cabin experience
OK, so I can fish and hunt and race in bass boats. What else?
First off, fishing is done like Pro Fishing Challenge, and hunting is done in the same views and you hunt. Racing is the same as driving boats on the lake except they are sanctioned and you get rewarded for coming in a certain place.
From fishing you can get numerous things like "fish"... You can use fish to get on the scorebaoards for biggest fish in it's category, you can also use it as an ingredient. Different fish give different ingredients that can be used in the game to create other things. You can also simply just sell the fish.
I can fish from my boat, fish from land, fish from a dock or pier if I build one, I can pull upto any body of water and fish from the bed of my pickup truck.
Same goes for hunting, except the boat must be at a complete stop and engines turned off.
You will be able to craft items from mobs that you kill, such as a rug from a deer or bear, or make "Fish leather" for belts and boots, etc. Fancy a pair of lizard skin boots? That can be done too... Fish emulsion for fertilizer for your garden. You get the picture.
Alright, So ill be hangin around the log cabin until I can raise up enough funds to wander out into the world further.
So until then, I will try to make my lil log cabin experience to be a resourceful one by fishing, hunting and bass boat racing, crafting and ranching, gardening, and exploring.
There will be NPC's to sell my wares to intially until I can find a real player in need of them, where I can make better ingame money.
I'll need tools to work on my vehicles, and feeders for the animals. There's trash floating in my lake comprimising the health of the fish and other wildlife there, If I clean it up, it'll benefit me, and make the place healthier for all who reside there. Or I can just leave it there. But some of the trash might be useful.
Edit: Using weapons and scopes- when equipped and aiming with various steel sights the player will see through the sights view (FPV). Same goes with scopes, you'll see the cross hairs through the scope in FPV and depending on the scope, may be able to zoom. Players may also craft items such as the brass from a mining operations to make bullet casings, and lead to make the projectile, and copper, for full metal jacketed bullet, or wood saplings for wooden arrows if that's your bag. etc. Or they can be bought. Various other crafting options will be available, but not necessary.
Crafting is a way to gain unique items, and a way to offset the price of buying something premanufactured. It will also be a way to make a fortune if you can obtain the appropriate materials for any end product. As always, some materials are worth more than others for many reasons, including but not limited to Collections, Just because you want it, It may become very valuable later on, or for the obvious reasons like "Crafting" items to do other things.
For example: I have found an old canepole, but I dont wanna use it because I can catch bigger fish with a better pole that I already have, I can hang it on my mantle in my house below above or near my Scoreboard trophy taxidermy bass. But it has 1 very important quality, no other fishing pole has... It's the main ingredient to the Wooden Whuppin' Stick which catches a special fish that gives you the material needed to make a certain kind of bait, that will catch much bigger fish. And in turn make more ingame money.
Edit: Fishing poles and gear will be the same. If I have a jig, but no fish are biting a jig and I have no other hooks or bait, I can use a pair of pliers to crack the jig head from the hook, and at least catch fish. Different size hooks and baits can be crafted from various sources and traded, bought and sold. etc.
Players do not need to stay where they are at, they can roam to whatever city they want to, but it will be almost impossible to get going in an area they don't have a home in yet. Because all their initial gear is for somewhere else.
So it's best to choose something you really want to do in the beginning. It won't take forever to start moving on, but it will take awhile and some kind of effort.
And if that first choice isnt really your flavor, you can start anew until you find an area you think you'll like.
