"We need to adapt...and be ahead of the curve. We're going to do a lot of Linux stuff. We're going to do a lot of mobile stuff with Android and iOS. We're also going to do next-gen consoles, but more as a test to begin with and see if it works out or not."

Perhaps the most interesting bit of news for developers is that Paradox was reportedly approached by both Microsoft and Sony to develop games for next-gen platforms, suggesting that the company is now better-known for its work as a developer than as a publisher. Though Wester is quick to reassure the interviewer that Paradox will remain focused on creating grand strategy games for the PC, he also claims that the company is beefing up its internal development efforts -- Paradox has begun developing its own PC RPG, Runemaster, ostensibly in response to fan requests, and it's staffing up to make forays into mobile and next-gen development. "Previously, we haven't really had an approach on how to do a really complex, engrossing mobile game," Wester told USGamer. "We hired some people who have mobile experience and we're starting to get there. I don't want to be the game you play for five minutes on your commute, I want to be the game you play for five hours when you fly between New York and LA."
