Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Ring Runner has surpassed its first stretch goal of $16,000 on Kicstarter, unlocking a new space city.
After reaching its funding goal of $12,000 after just 10 days on Kickstarter, Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages, a new game that combines the storytelling of an RPG with the action of a space-shooter, has achieved its first stretch goal: $16,000.
As a result, developer Triple-B-Titles (brothers E.C. and Paul Dryere) will be adding a space city to the game, complete with high rises, bustling traffic and tongue-in-cheek billboards for space-age businesses. Fans are getting in on the action via the game’s social media profiles, with suggestions for the comical signs. With $16,061 raised so far and 16 days until the end of the Kickstarter campaign, additional stretch goals are next on the horizon, including extra tracks on the original soundtrack and a new Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) mode.
From a story-driven, single-player campaign to several multiplayer modes, Ring Runner has something for everyone. This top-down shmup features “fantastic visuals” (Alex Wilkinson, IndieGameMag,) with 65 customizable ships, and procedural AI and backgrounds.
“… with several ship archetypes with variations inside of each, a multitude of game modes and the fun of a shmup; Ring Runner has impressed us from the start.” – Chris Priestman (IndieGameMag)
Playing through the 20+-hour campaign, the player will explore a universe based on a full-length novel by the game’s co-creator, E.C. Dryere, and have access to more than 300 abilities inspired by modern fantasy games.
“It’s a mix of influences, from DotA to MMOs, with RPG archetypes battling in space under Newtonian movement rules. I am space-intrigued.” – Craig Pearson (Rock, Paper, Shotgun)
A few of the rewards available to Kickstarter backers include the novel, as well as the game’s original soundtrack, a copy (or several) of the PC game once it is released, and access to the beta release. Players can test-drive the game today by downloading the alpha demo. In addition to Kickstarter, fans can find out more on the game’s website, Facebook and Twitter, and support it on Steam Greenlight.
