Sometimes to find your next big thing, you have to look to what came before. Way before. Like, 1977 before.

That was the year Tandy released its first TRS-80 microcomputer, and game developer Jim McGinley believes that durings its brief lifespan the TRS-80 played host to a treasure trove of intriguing, forgotten games.

At GDC 2012, McGinley showcased some TRS-80 games with remarkable mechanics that are often overlooked in the annals of game industry history, and spoke to how each contains a proven kernel of brilliance that can inspire modern game developers.

It's a fun talk, and you can now watch the entire thing completely free of charge via the official GDC YouTube channel.
