Selling people on virtual reality is hard. Once people get their hands on a headset, they’re more inclined to believe in VR’s potential, but getting those headsets to people is often difficult. So when you’re making a trailer for your VR game, how do you convince people that it’s something special and unique?
While preparing to market the VR version of Fantastic Contraption, developer Colin Northway and video editor Kert Gartner had to answer this question. It turns out, they came up with a unique solution called mixed reality. At the 2017 Game Developers Conference, Northway and Gartner took the stage to explain how they created this workflow and what other developers (and video editors) can learn from it.
