The popular CGI trailer for Deep Silver and Techland's upcoming Dead Island took home a Golden Lion prize in the Internet Film category of a recent advertising awards show. The award was granted at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity this week. It is the sole Golden Lion award granted to a video game-related campaign, with other Gold winners including Chrysler, Pepsi and Google. "Receiving a Golden Lion at Cannes is a great honor for Deep Silver. The public response since the reveal of the game with this trailer was truly extraordinary, but it’s also fantastic that the trailer’s creativity has been given this accolade by the jury of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity and that it could stand up against such strong competition," said Deep Silver international marketing director Georg Larch. "We also want to thank Axis Productions for their outstanding collaboration in the creation of this trailer." The Cannes International Festival of Creativity, now in its 58th year, bills itself as the "most prestigious international advertising awards."
