CCP, Icelandic-based developer of the sci-fi MMO EVE Online, has announced it is adopting bug tracking and project management software Hansoft at all of its worldwide studios in Atlanta, London, and Shanghai. CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Petursson noted how successfully the product fit with their numerous distributed projects and the size of the company. Said Petersson, "The flexibility of Hansoft ... allows us to continue our mission of constantly refining and improving our development methodology." The announcement was accompanied by one from Hanbitsoft itself, stating that version 5.2 of the software has now been released. Among numerous improvements to the product, QA functionality has been polished and compatability with 'agile' quality assurance has been introduced. Compatability with Agile development has been generally improved, with new backlog functionality implimented to specifically suppor that development philosophy. Sharing the same name as the company, Hansoft is used for managing tasks and collaboration on a day by day basis by programmers, artists, project managers and producers. The software’s latest releases have introduced a bug tracking tool that is designed to “help integrate the QA process closer with development” and special features for agile development. Patric Palm, CEO at Hansoft commented, “CCP is not only a leader in our industry but also seem to have a very cool corporate culture and we are obviously thrilled to license Hansoft to them. I believe their pragmatic approach to production management has helped them quickly grow its organization in such a sound way. That is not an easy task, rapid growth is hard.“
