After weeks of lower than average sales, the release of two high profile new games from long established franchises has helped to rejuvenate the weekly Japanese game software charts, as reported by Media Create. Combined sales of what will be known in the West as Nintendo's Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 for DS made the game the best selling title of the week, with 569,000 combined unit sales, with the total, as usual, split between two separate versions. Ultimately the best selling single SKU of the week was Square Enix’s Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for PSP, with 487,000 units - the final, and most successful, part of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series. Along with Capcom’s Monster Hunter series, the game has proven once again that PSP titles can sell in significant numbers. The general recovery of sales this week has not been universal in the chart; with a sharp drop off in the bottom half of the top ten. The third highest entry of the week is Fate/tiger colosseum on PSP, an action game spin-off from erotic visual novel Fate/stay night, which sold only 55,000 copies. The only other new title in the top ten is a re-entry for the Nintendo DS version of Taiko: Drum Master, which has been sold out since its initial release in July, and has only now returned to the charts with around 24,000 units sold.
