Despite a surprisingly slow opening weekend last week, Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, newly launched for PlayStation 2, has bounced back to the top of the UK sales chart in its second week, ousting previous Xbox 360-exclusive incumbent Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2. Technically, since UK chart positions include all format versions of the same game, there are no new entries in the top ten – although the re-entry of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 at number five is entirely due to the new Wii version of the game. In a similar manner, Test Drive Unlimited has reappeared at number seven, due to the release of the PlayStation 2 and PC versions of the game, while soccer management game Championship Manager 2007 has re-entered at number thirty-nine upon the release of the console versions of the PC original. The highest genuine new entry of the week outside of the top ten is Spectrobes on the Nintendo DS at number twenty-three, with Disney’s first non-licensed Pokemon style title enjoying a relatively strong debut. The other new entry of the week is Electronic Arts’ SSX Blur at number twenty-eight. Despite being a Wii exclusive, the game has received less advertising promotions than the Wii version of Tiger Woods, reflected in the lower sales position. Overall though, Electronic Arts is likely pleased with the performance of its first two major Wii titles, in a top forty as a whole now containing eleven separate Wii titles, six of them exclusives.
