Though rankings for Facebook's most popular social games remain unchanged for the most part this week, Millionaire City and Happy Aquarium's growth have sent the two titles up the list.
[Every other week, we examine the most popular Facebook games (according to monthly active users), looking at the top titles and developers on the social network to see who's attracting or losing players.] Though rankings for Facebook's most popular social games remain unchanged for the most part this week, the bottom half of the list shows some interesting movement from titles with less than 15 million monthly active users. Starting at the top, though, FarmVille keeps its crown as the most popular application on the social network, but the Zynga game lost nearly 1.8 million users in the last two weeks -- it went from 62.1 million monthly virtual farmers to now 60.3 million players. Five more Zynga titles follow: Texas HoldEm Poker at #2 (+543,789 users, 35.5 million total), FrontierVille at #3 (-253,522 users, 31 million total), Cafe World at #4 (+254,627 users, 22.2 million total), Mafia Wars at #5 (+506,226 users, 21.8 million total), and Treasure Isle at #6 (+103,431 users, 15.5 million total). MindJolt Games, a casual gaming portal for hundreds of titles, managed to stay at #7 with its 13.1 million total players despite losing 752,713 users in the past two weeks. CrowdStar's Happy Aquarium swam up a spot to #8 after adding 304,255 new users for a total monthly audience of 13 million. Pet Society dropped slightly to #9 as it lost about half a million virtual pet owners -- the Electronic Arts/Playfish game now has 12.8 million total players. Bejeweled Blitz barely returns to the top ten with 12 million gem-matching gamers, though it lost 368,099 monthly users. The most significant movement in this week's chart comes from Digital Chocolate's Millionaire City, which jumped from #15 to #12 after picking up 1.7 million new users in the last 14 days. The city sim, which invites players to "build [a] dream city and become a millionaire", now has 10.3 million users total.
