Despite running out of stock for the third week in a row, Pokemon Diamond has returned to the top of the Japanese sales charts with over 275,000 sales combined for the two SKUs. Stock issues continue to plague the Nintendo DS format though, just as they have done for almost the entirety of the year, with hardware stock again sold out this week. Similar stock problems for Square Enix’s Final Fantasy III have prevented the company from having two retro iterations of the franchise in the top ten this week, with the Game Boy Advance update of Final Fantasy V enjoying an impressive debut at number two. What will be known in the West as Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 had a relatively strong second week at number four, while fellow anime and manga license Bleach: Blade Battles is the other new entry in the top ten this week at number eight. Hardware sales for the week were depressed almost across the board, with the Nintendo DS selling “only” 104,760 units. PlayStation 2 sales were down at 24,727 units, while PSP sales were up by around 500 to 21,603. Thanks to the release of Final Fantasy V Advance sales for the Game Boy Advance family of consoles saw the only significant rise on the previous week, up by a third to 4,050. The Xbox 360 sold 1,743 units and the GameCube 653.
