Wii Party Returns To Top Sales Spot In Japan

Nintendo's Wii Party topped the Japanese software sales charts in Japan for the week ended August 15, as Namco Bandai's Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X, last week's top title, slipped to number four. Tracking firm Media Create revealed that Wii Party saw a notable boost in sales, with 124,489 units sold this week versus last week's 82,698 units, bringing the game's total units sold to 736,207. Rounding out the top three were the PlayStation 3 version of Capcom's Sengoku Basara 3 and Level 5's Inazuma Eleven 3: World Challenge!! on DS; both are titles that have spent several weeks in the top 10. No new games entered the top 10 this week, though several jumped back onto the charts, including Art Academy, Friend Collection, Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Victory, and Taiko Drum Master DS: Dororon! Battle with the Ghouls!!. With so many titles returning to the top 10, several games were pushed from the list, such as Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem and the Wii version of Sengoku Basara 3. This week's only debut title, Corpse Party: Blood Covered - Repeated Fear, only reached the number 12 spot with 13,566 units sold. Below are Media Create's rankings for the week ended July 25, 2010:
