Representatives from the UK-based ANGILS – the Alliance for New Generation Interactive Leisure and Simulations - have announced a strategic partnership with educational company Futurelab, with a continuing goal to “drive innovation in the serious games market.” ANGILS recently held its inaugural board meeting and created an action plan for driving the serious games market, and officials note that the partnership with Futurelab is the first step to come out of that plan to support “the flow-through of innovation and best practice to the serious games business-focused community.” The nonprofit ANGILS organization was originally founded in 2003 as a network group for individuals interested in the usage of games and related technologies in non-games industry applications. More recently, ANGILS was re-launched in October 2006 as a full trade organization offering membership to both individuals and organizations. The organization focuses on the business-related issues of both serious games and emerging technologies and techniques from the digital entertainment sector (such as search and AI) that it sees as applicable to a wider audience, as well as promotes the serious games community across Europe and other territories. “We are very clear about what will help sustain and grow the serious games and emerging technologies markets and that is whatever we expound is grounded in fact at every level: development through to market,” commented ANGILS CEO Martine Parry. “In addition to our superb advisory council," she added, "we need good academic, innovation and research partners together with synergistic networks to ensure the community is cohesive and that we work together on the key issues. So Obviously Futurelab is a natural choice.”
