According to a press release sent out late last week, a Phoenix-based company named Tulga Games has agreed, subject to court approval, to purchase the assets of Artifact Entertainment. Artifact, the creators of the Atari-published Horizons: Empire of Istaria PC MMORPG, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in mid-July, and relatively little is known about Tulga Games other than the identity of its Managing Member, Chris Tulumello, a former employee of Artifact Entertainment. As such, it seems likely that a number of the original Horizons developers are behind this asset purchase, and that it may be an attempt to create a clean slate to continue development of the relatively disappointingly-performing MMO game. However, other than Mr. Tulumello's indication that "Tulga Games believes in the longevity and endurance of Horizons: The Empire of Istaria", and the press release indication that the game was "originally published by Atari", showing a degree of independence from its former publisher, there is no official word on specific plans or a specific date/price for the asset purchase.
