[Gamasutra highlights a week's worth of alternative video gaming news, media, and other curiosities from sister blog GameSetWatch, as written by editor Eric Caoili.] This round-up includes notable submissions from Valve's Team Fortress 2 propaganda poster contest, a guide to official and unofficial events/performances for this week's Blip Festival 2009 chip music concert, and Rockin' Android's upcoming PlayStation 3 ports for PC doujin shoot'em ups. Other highlights include the unearthed Sega Saturn prototype of Capcom's lost adaptation for pen and paper RPG Werewolf: The Apocalypse, and a first look at Arkedo Studio (Big Bang Mini) and Pastagames's (Maestro: Jump in Music) charming 2D platformer 03 Pixel! This past week's top stories: - Arkedo, Pastagames Premiere 03 Pixel! Screens "Arkedo Studios treated us to an early look at 03 Pixel!, the latest project from its line of experimental Arkedo Series titles (02 Swap! and 01 Jump!) for Xbox Live Indie Games. Like 01 Jump!, 03 Pixel! is a 2D platformer with blocky graphics, though its glowing blue pixel environments/sprites presents a very different aesthetic." - Capcom's Werewolf: The Apocalypse Prototype Released "Back in 1995, Capcom announced a team-up with role-playing game publisher White Wolf to produce a Werewolf: The Apocalypse adaptation for PS1 and Sega Saturn, the first in a planned series of video game collaborations. ... The game never made it to stores, but a playable prototype ROM for the Saturn version finally appeared and is now available to download." - Propaganda Posters For TF2's Demoman, Soldier "Escalating the conflict between Team Fortress 2's Demomen and Soldiers (a war that decides which of the two classes receives an extra weapon when the game's next update releases), Valve is hosting a propaganda poster contest with prizes like a unique in-game item engraved with the winner's name." - Get Lamp Preorders Now Open, Premiering At PAX East "Digital archivist Jason Scott has opened preorders for Get Lamp, his forthcoming documentary on the history of text adventure games and their creators. The Textfiles.com maintainer, who also directed 2005's BBS: The Documentary, has worked on the project for three years and expects to release the Get Lamp DVD in March 2010." - Austin-Bergstrom Airport Hosts Video Game History Exhibit "If you find yourself spending a few hours on a layover Austin-Bergstrom International Airport some time between now and January 26th, 2010 make sure to explore the concourse between Gates 7-12 for 'Behind the Screens', an exhibit promising a historic peek at the video game industry with original art and artifacts from early titles." - Unofficial Guide to Blip Festival 2009 "With Blip Festival 2009 kicking off in Brooklyn this Thursday, you might need a guide to keep track of all the acts performing at the three-day chip music concert, as well as a primer on the non-music attractions and shows planned around the event." - PlayStation Museum Remembers PS1 Pac-Mans With New Postmortems "To honor [its PS1 games of the year, PlayStation Museum] posted developer interviews for the titles, and in the case of Pac-Man World 20th Anniversary and Pac-Man Ghost Zone, shared stories on the games' origins and postmortems written by the original designers" - Rockin' Android Reveals PS3 Ports For Doujin Shooter In Podcast "Along with discussions on 3D versus 2D titles, copyright issues with fangames, and iPhone gaming, Episode 3 contains an interesting revelation on Rockin' Android's plans for future console ports of its doujin shooters." - 15th Annual Interactive Fiction Competition Winners Announced "Organizers for the 15th Annual Interactive Fiction Competition (IFComp 2009), a contest centered around short text adventures lasting under two hours, recently announced this year's winners: Rover's Day Out, Broken Legs, and Snowquest." - Sega Saturn Game's Insane Special Edition Set Sells For $3,400 "The Enemy Zero set was so huge, it came in a crate and was priced at ¥200,000 ($2,264). WARP only produced 20 of the bundles, and [designer Kenji] Eno personally delivered each one to the buyers on a flatbed truck. They made a pretty big deal for a game that received mostly awful reviews!"
