Publisher/developer Bethesda has confirmed that the former PlayStation 3 launch title The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, originally announced for a November 2006 release, is now shipping to stores in North America, and will be available to buy as early as Tuesday, March 20th. Released in March 2006 for Windows and Xbox 360, The Elder Scrolls IV has achieved critical acclaim, with review aggregation service Metacritic ranking it as an average 94% rated title - currently the highest-rated game of all time on Xbox 360. However, there is now some doubt whether the game will make it to European store shelves in time for the launch of the console, with UK site C&VG reporting that the title, which is distributed by Ubisoft in Europe, will now appear on April 30th in that territory. Bethesda itself has previously confirmed expansion The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles for debut on Xbox Live and PC this spring, but no information regarding a PlayStation 3 version of this expansion is yet available.
