Butterfly.net, Inc., a provider of software, tools and infrastructure for the video game and military simulation industries announced that Geoffrey T. Selzer has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. A media specialist with a background in production, design and finance, Selzer will lead Butterfly.net's senior management team. Company founder, David Levine has resigned his executive position to work with West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin in developing the technology industry and infrastructure in his home state. David remains a consultant to the company and an active member of the company's Board of Directors. Butterfly.net also announced the expansion of its team with the addition of Michael Steele as Vice President and General Manager for Managed Services, and Larry Mellon as Executive Director of Development and Systems Architecture. Both Michael and Larry are game industry veterans, having worked with UbiSoft and Electronic Arts respectively. Furthermore, Butterfly.net announced that Dan Kaufman has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Mr. Kaufman presently works with a wide variety of companies in the game space through Auratio Consulting. Included among his clients is In-Q-Tel, the venture arm of the CIA. Prior to his work in areas he can't talk about, Mr. Kaufman was the Head of Business for Kalisto Entertainment where he was credited with producing Dark Earth, Nightmare Creatures and Ultim@te Race, the products that led to Kalisto's IPO. Subsequently as the Head of US Studios, Mr. Kaufman oversaw Kalisto's Austin and San Carlos studios, producing products such as Jimmy Neutron and SpongeBob Squarepants. Prior to Kalisto, Mr. Kaufman was the Co-Chief Operating Officer of Dreamworks Interactive, and an attorney with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison where he served the game industry. An author in his spare time, Mr. Kaufman holds a BA from UC San Diego and a JD from Hastings, the UC San Francisco Law School.
