Capcom Releases DMC, Resident Evil Anniversary Collections

Representatives from major developer and publisher Capcom have announced a pair of anniversary collections for both the GameCube and PlayStation 2, including entries from its long running and influential Resident Evil and Devil May Cry franchises. Released today for the GameCube, Capcom's Resident Evil 10th Anniversary Collection includes the console's exclusive remake of the original Resident Evil, as well as the series prequel, Resident Evil Zero. The collection also includes Resident Evil 4, a title that redefined the survival horror genre that Capcom itself helped to create with the original release of Resident Evil for the PlayStation in 1996. This collection is available only through US EB Games and GameStop stores. Also released today is the Devil May Cry 5th Anniversary Collection for the PlayStation 2, which includes Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 2, as well as the remixed Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition. The included version of Devil May Cry 3, released separately in January 2006 as part of Sony's Greatest Hits line of PlayStation 2 software, features a new player character named Vergil and other unlockable bonuses, as well as a refined combat system and difficulty level. The collections continue with Capcom's recent affinity for releasing compilations of older titles. Previously, 2006 saw the release of several such collections from the company, including two arcade game collections for the PSP and a set of NES classics for the Game Boy Advance. Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2, a compilation of Capcom's arcade offerings, will also be released for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 on November 14, 2006. The series' first iteration was released in September 2005 for the Xbox and PlayStation 2.
