Chair Entertainment has announced that this week's Xbox Live Arcade update will bring an expansion to its original underwater shooter Undertow called Path of the Elect, featuring 5 new single player levels, four new multiplayer maps, and a new playable race. First released in November of last year, and later as Microsoft's free gift for Xbox Live downtimes, Undertow is a 2D sidescrolling shooter built using Unreal Engine 3 that, according to Chair, has been downloaded nearly a million times. In addition to the new single and multiplayer levels, the 400 Point ($5) expansion will add a new playable race, the Elect, who, says the release are "armed with superior technology and fire power" and are "determined to rule the earth and destroy those who seek to stop them." Said Chair creative director Donald Mustard, "We've received a ton of great gamer feedback on Undertow, which has helped us to create more of the exciting types of content that fans of the game will really enjoy. Whether they're looking to continue the saga we're building in the single player campaign or seeking more opportunities for competitive multiplayer battles, the expansion offers something new for everyone."
