CMP Technology, presenter of the Game Developers Conference, has teamed with publisher International Data Group (IDG) to produce GDC China, from August 27 to 29 2007. The inaugural event, situated in Shanghai, will feature content selected by an advisory board of Chinese developers, with an aim to advance the state of the country’s game industry by “cultivating a sense of community”, and will offer unique learning and networking opportunities for those involved in the market, and those looking for an entry point. Meggan Scavio, Senior Conference Manager of GDC notes that while the conference is known for “connecting the worldwide game development community”, certain markets require a “specialized experience”, adding that “the local developers on the GDC China advisory board hope to make that experience a reality and give the burgeoning Chinese market an infusion of creative ideas and strategic partnerships”. “A Game Developers Conference in China is long overdue,” notes Hugo Shong, President and CEO of IDG Asia. “At long last, there will be an opportunity for Asian and Western game makers to discover everything that the Chinese game market has to offer.”
