Today's 'The Esoteric Beat,' a weekly column examining the esoteric side of game design, looks at game blending, indie films via The Movies, overenthusiastic fans, and more, in this special Pancake Day edition. In this extract, Rossignol describes what happens when fans go too far: "'How terrifying are your fans?' It’s a question that games developers don’t ask each other enough (presumably because they think they know the answer already). In the latest round of this imaginary competition it seems as if Bungie are winning – with the chap who built a replica ‘needler’ gun from Halo, and then put it on eBay. A terrifying project, if ever there was one.
