Representatives from Take-Two publishing label 2K Sports have announced that New York Yankees’ captain Derek Jeter will once again serve as the cover athlete and official spokesperson for the upcoming multiplatform sports title, Major League Baseball 2K7. Jeter, a seven-time All-Star, had a spectacular 2006 season, finishing with a .343 batting average that ranked second overall in the American League. Additionally in 2006, Jeter won his third straight Gold Glove award as well as winning the Hank Aaron Award for best overall offensive performer for the American League. In addition, 2K Sports officials note that the latest game in the long running baseball franchise will include several new enhancements over previous iterations, though specific information concerning these changes are expected to be announced at a later date. Major League Baseball 2K7 will ship later this winter for the Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PSP. “We strive with every 2K Sports product to bring the most entertaining and realistic sports experience possible,” commented Visual Concepts president Greg Thomas. “With Major League Baseball 2K7 we listened to our fans, redesigning the game by strengthening the core gameplay and incorporating new, innovative features.”
