Representatives from mobile publisher Digital Bridges have announced the appointment of Shigeru Ota as the company’s Vice President, Business Development. He will be primarily responsible for extending the company’s business into the Japanese mobile market, while also promoting the company’s technology to Japanese game developers and publishers. Ota most recently worked at Capcom Eurosoft in London, as the company’s president, and was previously president of Nintendo of Europe - where he oversaw the launch of the original Game Boy in 1990. Previous to that appointment he had spent ten years at Nintendo of America. Ota is not the first ex-Nintendo employee to be hired by Digital Bridges, with former Nintendo of Europe MD David Gosen becoming COO of the company in June. With recent announcements of partnerships with Electronic Arts and a number of other publishers and developers, the UK-based company seems to be expanding ever more rapidly into the equally buoyant mobile market.
